Risk (A poem)

I’ve been thinking about this topic, risk, all week and rather than straining my overworked brain to come up with something brilliant to say on the topic. I’ve deferred to someone who could say it all far more succinctly than I could today and maybe forever. As a sexually independent woman it is far harder to deny yourself by playing the docile maiden than the shame or risk of doing what you please.

Take it away, Anais!

And then the day came,
when the risk
to remain tight
in a bud
was more painful
than the risk
it took
to Blossom.
